PiezoElectricity! Most of know that our clocks, watches, and most other electronic devices use a quartz crystal to function properly. This is because of the piezoelectric properties of quartz, meaning that pressure on quartz causes an electric field & voltage across the crystal's surface. The Traditional birthstone list is an older version of the Modern birthstone list recommended by the American National Association of Jewelers, based on societal birthstone traditions spanning from the 15th to the 20th Century. The Mystical birthstone list is based loosely on a list of Tibetan origin from over 1,000 years ago.
